Beeswax candles that melt a wide wax basin should not be extinguished by blowing or “suffocating”. In order to prolong the life of the candle, you must extinguish the flame by dipping the wick in the melted wax basin. Using the instrument, push down the wick into its base until it is completely dipped in the wax basin. This will extinguish the flame without creating any smoke. This allows the wick to be soaked with melted wax and ready for the next lighting. If the candle is extinguished by blowing, this leaves the wick without fuel for the next lighting and the candle may not lit at all. After dipping the wick, straighten it back to its previous position: now the wick and the candle are ready for re-lighting.
